HOBS – Bangkok

Submitted by mich on Thursday, 4 December 20084 Comments - 30,251 views

I have been to Bangkok (and other places in Thailand) quite a few times this year (2008) in search for Belgian Fries. Found nothing worth mentioning. HOBS, a Belgian style pub in Bangkok, claims to serve authentic Belgian Fries but they turned out to be ordinary frozen fries … I was very disappointed. Their website looks great, although the events do not seem to be updated for some time …

(sorry for the bad quality of the images – taken with my phone …)

I went to HOBs 1 time, it was very DISAPPOINTED because every Mussel dishes were STINKY, and they did not replace those stinky dishes for me. Moreover, its FRIES, I have no idea how dare they serve Mcdonalds’ or KFC quality with high price.

    Hi Mich,

try Gulliver at Sukhumvit Soi 5 ( next to my Soi 3 ) in BKK to enjoy thick Belgian Fries. Probably also frozen stuff, but I like ‘em anyway.

@ Piet De Leugenaar which is known person who runs dutch restaurant in Pataya that serves fries, fresh cut potatoes and 2x baking.

  • Thomas says:

    Hi Michel,

Great website. I fully agree with your HOBS “review”. What a disappointment… Fortunately, I had a cold Hoegaarden to put that smile back on my face. Anyway, let us know whenever you find the real stuff around BKK!
