My favourite fry shop in New York. Sham Sul Miah, born in Bangladesh but lived in Brussels for 15 years, owns this homey storefront. On the second floor of his business you will find a small café where you can taste some of the best Belgian beers.

Prices in 1999: from $2.25 for a small but ample portion over $3.25 to $4.25 for a large portion.
